Listen, it’s not that I forgot that we were nearing the end of April…
Truly.
It’s just that I thought we had another week π
Time is wild and so here I am, down to the wire, reflecting on where the last 30 days went while looking back at my camera roll to jog my memory because it’s all a blur.
Create + Inspire
Creating has recently looked like journaling, doodling, and beginning a new corner to corner join-as-you-go lap blanket with the gorgeous yarn I got recently from my favorite yarn shop…
A little back end work on this blog as I clean up categories and tags…
And exploring the vibe of this space with a little color theory.
Have you noticed any of the changes? They’re subtle (for now) as I feel my way through some of the changes and the vibe I want to convey.

Farm + Garden
April on the farm has been very dry and windy. Not unusual for this time of year, but with only one solid storm, it’s been a l o o o n g month of ups and downs.
We got our greenhouse up and covered and are slowly learning how to keep the temperature and humidity at optimal levels while watching a few sprouts make their way into the world before they’re ready to set their roots into the land.
And… our well went out… and was fixed quickly by the best father and son team ever. Whew!
I also decided to start a new every-other-week feature called #farmphotofriday so will share more farm news and photos tomorrow!
How’s the weather/land in your neck of the woods? Has April left you feeling hopeful for the month ahead in the Nature or Garden department?

Read + Write
While I didn’t actually write as many blog posts as I wanted to, I’m filled with ideas and inspiration recently, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, here are the posts that did get written, in case you missed any π
- Turning Pages: Small Spaces, where you can read about the three books I was able to add to completed column of my yearly goal tally and what I’m reading now.
- Turkey Dreams and Spring Things, where I shared my first #farmphotofriday update, lots of fun farm photos, and yes, my dream about turkeys.
- Top Ten Book Titles That Describe My Life, where you can get a chronological peek into some of the experiences that have shaped who I am (and where I am) today.
- Over a Cuppa: Twenty Two, no explanation needed, I don’t think π
- Work(s) in Progress – Busy Hands, Calm(er) Heart, where I talk about some of my recent creative endeavors and how they help keep my sane in an utterly insane timeline.
What have you been reading and writing recently?

Slinkies + Celebrations
Believe it or not, I didn’t take many photos at the big fundraiser I mentioned earlier in the month. The only explanation is that I was surrounded by 300+ amazing humans and focused on being as present as possible while feeling all the feelings.
Alas, here are the photos I did take. When the professional photos come available, I’ll see if my eyes aren’t closed in any (all?) of the photos and share a few here.

Yes, the slinky chandelier was EPICβ¦
Our kicks were 1000% necessaryβ¦
And the candy bar was perfection.
There you have it…
An entire month boiled down into a few bite sized chunks. Itβs not everything, but itβs plenty.
I hope the past month has been kind to you and the month ahead is filled with all the peace and joy your heart can hold!
Iβm off to see what Natalie has been up to and check the comments for posts by other community members. Join me?
Onward,

ooh — farmphotofriday sounds like a cool idea. What have you planted in your greenhouse? Will it get moved into the garden or stay put for the season. Your April was dry – ours was filled with 4 decent dumps/blizzards full of snow. So much snow. It has put seeding behind that is for sure. Love the colour of your yarn and that doodle journal looks cool. Bernie
Hi Bernie! Thank you for stopping by! I’ve started some tomatoes and green chile, some herbs and winter squash, and a few other random babes. They’ll all go into the garden once the threat of frost has passed (I’ll keep watching the 10 day forecasts, but May can be iffy here). We just might get some rain tomorrow so I’ll remain hopeful but our drought is quite the doozie. I do hope you can get your seeds in the ground in time to give them a proper chance during your growing season! Thanks for your kind words. I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead!
We never plant in the ground before May 10th – our days are so long that it makes up for the late start to the season. Hope you get some rain – in the Canadian prairies we know all about droughts. They suck man.
Thank you, Bernie! I remain hopeful that all of us who need moisture will get it! I hope you have an abundant growing season!
Looks like a great month.
Indeed, it was π Hope you’re doing wonderfully!
So glad you got the well fixed quickly! We’ve had our pump go out in the middle of winter and spent a day or so digging in the snow to find the well to replace the pump (and by we I mean I watched my husband from the window! LOL). It did not look fun but boy was it ever necessary. We lost power for just a few hours last night and I missed having a working sink for even just that long– of course we lost power WHILE I was cooking dinner so that didn’t help (thank goodness for our generator and the fact my husband was on his way home).
That slinkie chandelier is so neat! I often find with things like that I am so focused on enjoying my time that I can forget to snap many photos too.
Joanne, I’m so glad to hear your power outage was quickly fixed! Losing power and water are such triggers for me! I don’t truly have any reason to not trust that it will get fixed, but goodness it makes me feel vulnerable!
Glad to know I’m not alone in doing my best to be present, even if that means the memories are just in my heart and not on my camera roll π
Hope the week ahead is a wonderful one!
I am looking forward to seeing your farm photos every Friday! April has been dry and windy here as well, very unusual. May started out with a whopping 75F/24C which is totally unheard of, that is a warm summer day here. At the most we have ten days with that temperature every summer. This is going to be interesting.
Oh wow! That sounds wild! I hope your growing season works out ok! Maybe your tomatoes and such will do even better than normal! It’s hard to know how to adapt these days. I guess we just keep doing our best π
Hi Melissa, that slinky chandelier looks fabulous! A busy month for you by the sounds of things. We’re coming into autumn down here and so far it’s been almost spring like but that’s changing this week apparently! Visiting from Natalie’s post π
Hi Debbie! Thanks for popping over from Natalie’s post π I hope your autumn settles in gently and the week ahead is wonderful!
Haha I can relate to looking at my camera roll to try to remember what happened during the month during really busy times too! oh that multicoloured yarn is so pretty! In my corner of the world weβre getting a frost advisory in May which is slightly annoying since the days were starting to get warm again. The pictures you shared are all so beautiful, especially that purple slinky swirl!! π
Thank you for all your kind words π I hope the frost doesn’t do too much damage! The temperature swings can be a bit tough to navigate during these shoulder seasons. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
That slinky chandelier is fabulous. Looks like you had a great and creative month. I had internet issues that delayed my commenting on blogs. Thank you for your contribution to #MonthlyWrapup.
