Listen, it’s not that I forgot that we were nearing the end of April…
Truly.
It’s just that I thought we had another week ๐
Time is wild and so here I am, down to the wire, reflecting on where the last 30 days went while looking back at my camera roll to jog my memory because it’s all a blur.
Create + Inspire
Creating has recently looked like journaling, doodling, and beginning a new corner to corner join-as-you-go lap blanket with the gorgeous yarn I got recently from my favorite yarn shop…
A little back end work on this blog as I clean up categories and tags…
And exploring the vibe of this space with a little color theory.
Have you noticed any of the changes? They’re subtle (for now) as I feel my way through some of the changes and the vibe I want to convey.

Farm + Garden
April on the farm has been very dry and windy. Not unusual for this time of year, but with only one solid storm, it’s been a l o o o n g month of ups and downs.
We got our greenhouse up and covered and are slowly learning how to keep the temperature and humidity at optimal levels while watching a few sprouts make their way into the world before they’re ready to set their roots into the land.
And… our well went out… and was fixed quickly by the best father and son team ever. Whew!
I also decided to start a new every-other-week feature called #farmphotofriday so will share more farm news and photos tomorrow!
How’s the weather/land in your neck of the woods? Has April left you feeling hopeful for the month ahead in the Nature or Garden department?

Read + Write
While I didn’t actually write as many blog posts as I wanted to, I’m filled with ideas and inspiration recently, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, here are the posts that did get written, in case you missed any ๐
- Turning Pages: Small Spaces, where you can read about the three books I was able to add to completed column of my yearly goal tally and what I’m reading now.
- Turkey Dreams and Spring Things, where I shared my first #farmphotofriday update, lots of fun farm photos, and yes, my dream about turkeys.
- Top Ten Book Titles That Describe My Life, where you can get a chronological peek into some of the experiences that have shaped who I am (and where I am) today.
- Over a Cuppa: Twenty Two, no explanation needed, I don’t think ๐
- Work(s) in Progress – Busy Hands, Calm(er) Heart, where I talk about some of my recent creative endeavors and how they help keep my sane in an utterly insane timeline.
What have you been reading and writing recently?

Slinkies + Celebrations
Believe it or not, I didn’t take many photos at the big fundraiser I mentioned earlier in the month. The only explanation is that I was surrounded by 300+ amazing humans and focused on being as present as possible while feeling all the feelings.
Alas, here are the photos I did take. When the professional photos come available, I’ll see if my eyes aren’t closed in any (all?) of the photos and share a few here.

Yes, the slinky chandelier was EPICโฆ
Our kicks were 1000% necessaryโฆ
And the candy bar was perfection.
There you have it…
An entire month boiled down into a few bite sized chunks. Itโs not everything, but itโs plenty.
I hope the past month has been kind to you and the month ahead is filled with all the peace and joy your heart can hold!
Iโm off to see what Natalie has been up to and check the comments for posts by other community members. Join me?
Onward,
Melissa

ooh — farmphotofriday sounds like a cool idea. What have you planted in your greenhouse? Will it get moved into the garden or stay put for the season. Your April was dry – ours was filled with 4 decent dumps/blizzards full of snow. So much snow. It has put seeding behind that is for sure. Love the colour of your yarn and that doodle journal looks cool. Bernie
Hi Bernie! Thank you for stopping by! I’ve started some tomatoes and green chile, some herbs and winter squash, and a few other random babes. They’ll all go into the garden once the threat of frost has passed (I’ll keep watching the 10 day forecasts, but May can be iffy here). We just might get some rain tomorrow so I’ll remain hopeful but our drought is quite the doozie. I do hope you can get your seeds in the ground in time to give them a proper chance during your growing season! Thanks for your kind words. I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead!
We never plant in the ground before May 10th – our days are so long that it makes up for the late start to the season. Hope you get some rain – in the Canadian prairies we know all about droughts. They suck man.
Looks like a great month.
