Hi, Hey, Hello!
Thank you for joining me today over a cuppa! How the heck are you?
What can I get started for you? I’m brewing up some black tea with milk and honey (of course) but also have coffee, any herbal tea your heart could desire, and some sun tea brewing on the bridge if you’d like something cool.
I guess I should start by thanking you for your patience while I took an unintentional but apparently very needed break from the Inter-Webs.
Everything is fine, truly, I just needed a little break…
A little time and space to just be.
I’ll admit to a bit of melancholy swirling through my head and heart over the last six weeks or so and I’m doing my best to allow it to flow through me so that it may pass with the least amount of resistance possible.
And I am here, now.
I have been winding my way through some Shadow Work with my Mom…
And have experienced some wildly insightful new awareness and understandings of some of her own struggles.
I have been saddened by the burning of our lands, the impossible heat, and the building el Niño…
And am taking solace (and finding a bit of silliness) in the few harvests I’ve coaxed from an exhausted garden.

I have been grieving the deep struggles of a beloved family member who I cannot help…
And have been enjoying beverages and meals with a dear friend who is helping me better understand our broken systems and the limited resources available to those who may be willing to put in some work to help themselves.
I have sat on a Federal Jury on a heartbreaking case…
And am grateful that the system, though broken in a lot of ways, can still work and create an opportunity for healing for those who have been horribly harmed by others.

I have not found a book that has pulled me in (despite my best efforts) since Not with a Bang over a month ago…
But am determined to begin Shutter by Ramona Emerson this weekend.
And while I have not written here…
I have been writing in my commonplace journal and have begun a new Tarot/Oracle journal for my daily pulls. I have been consistently pulling and documenting for four weeks now, which feels really good.

Other good things?
- Tori Amos at Popejoy Hall was phenomenal!
- Baby chicks are the best
- Lucy is ridiculous
- The berries are beginning their abundance
- My friend’s new puppy is adorable
- The shifting season is gorgeous

And so, I’m here now 🙂
Truly, life is good, even when it’s hard.
And I am so grateful for this community. Thanks for sharing a cuppa with me!
As always, thanks to Natalie for continuing to host us for the #weekendcoffeeshare.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and week ahead!
If today weighs heavy on you, go gently and remember: the strength of the helpers will always prevail over those who wish to do harm <3
Onward,
Melissa

No wonder you needed a break! A lot going on for you on both a personal level and on a societal level. I was on a jury for a similar case last year, and as it was for the case you were on, justice was done. Hugs from Maine!
