I had a dream a couple of nights ago that, unbeknownst to us, one of our turkeys hatched a clutch of babes out in the field and I was trying to gather them all up in my arms and bring them to the safety of the poultry yard…
But there were too many (like…30!) and they kept popping out of my arms and puttering away.
Not sure what it means but they were hella fluffy and cute!

In real life, the wildly warm weather has all the poultry in a twist and trying to hatch out as many clutches as possible as quickly as possible. Between the two chickens on nests, two ducks on nests, and a duck and a turkey sharing the same nest, there will no doubt be an abundance of fluffy butts running amuck in less than 21, 28, and 35 (ish) days, respectively.

In other news, the sour cherries have finally(?) blossomed, the seeds are popping in the greenhouse…
And we got the most glorious rain last weekend! It rained and rained and rained and the run off turned the river (and therefore the acequia) red 🙂
And yes, we got a little hail, but it wasn’t enough to do much damage.
Oh how it all made my high desert heart happy!

Last, but certainly not least, our Barn Cat, Kira, celebrated her birthday this week and still reigns supreme as the best critter catcher in all the land. She’s darn cute, too, isn’t she?!
How are things in your neck of the woods? Is your season unfolding normally, or are you experiencing a taste of climate chaos, too? Anything exciting happening in nature around you? I’d love to hear all about it!
Onward,
Melissa

Give Kira a birthday tickle under the chin from me!
Oh definitely some climate chaos– mild chaos but we’ve already had thunderstorms and our weather has been fluctuating by 40 degrees so it feels like we go back and forth from winter to summer weather and the nice spring stuff is passing us by.
Kira is darn cute is right! How I love Tuxedo cats. That was quite a dream you had. Soon your farm will be tumbling with life.
Dreams are interesting. Do you have a dream dictionary, Melissa? I love looking up dream images to see what messages might come through.
Kira is a cute barn cat. She reminds me of a cat I knew once named Patches, who was also a good mouser. Patches was an indoor and outdoor cat, though, so when he brought home his catch, it wasn’t ideal when he managed to get it in the house for show-and-tell. Haha.
It is lovely to see spring arrive at your farm 🙂 Give your birthday kitty some cuddles from me.
Your dream made me smile. So many chicks and so many hungry mouths to feed.
30.. wow. That is a surprise. Definitely climate chaos here. In the last ten days we have swing between a hot 80 to a cold 30.
