Hi, hey, hello, and welcome to my contribution to today’s Top Ten Tuesday with Jana!
Identifying my favorite books written by my favorite authors proved more of a challenge than I thought it would because I just love the unique voices of so many incredible writers! That being said, I decided to go with favorite books that I currently own, written by my favorite authors.
You might notice that there are only eight books in the featured photo stack. That’s because, while I do own the remaining two books, they are in storage instead of on my bookshelf. We live in a very small home, so the books must take turns 😉
In no particular order, here are my chosen favorites:
- The Stand by Stephen King
- The Good Turn by Dervla McTiernan
- The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
- The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

- Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
- Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shae Ernshaw

This prompt was a lot of fun and offered some solid reflection as I looked back on so many amazing titles.

Station Eleven was such a good read.
Truly! It wasn’t even on my radar until a couple of years ago and it blew my mind!
I can’t believe I’ve never read Jurassic Park myself… I really ought to! Looks like a good list.
Oh yes, if you’re a fan of the movie(s), it’s a great read!
I think about Station Eleven just about every day. It is eerie. Why that book impacted me so much?
It is definitely one of those stories that sticks with you! I find it echoing through my mind occasionally, too!
Many great authors on your list. I really want to read Outlander. I love the TV show. I’m just not good with books that are over 300 pages.
Hi Yvonne! If you like audio books, the narration of Outlander was fantastic. I read the books while listening to them and was very happy with the experience.

I really enjoyed the whole Outlander series and waiting for the next book. I see something about it on You Tube but have listened in yet. Maybe 2027!
The wait is truly tortuous! I know why it takes so long to write each novel, but I wish I could wave a magic wand and help her out 😉
Once upon a time I read Stephen King…not anymore! I am too chicken, LOL.
I completely understand! I had to take a break for a bit, but some of his newer novels aren’t as horrific. I loved Fairytale and found it not scary at all 🙂
I have read many of the same books. I will definitely be checking out Long Live the Pumpkin Queen, one I have not heard of.
Oh, please let me know if you read Long Live the Pumpkin Queen! Sally has always been my favorite and since the focus is finally on her in this story, it was such a lovely and insightful read!
So many great books and authors. I still haven’t read Station Eleven. I’d add Backman to the list. I loved his Beartown books.
I highly recommend Station Eleven! It’s such an interesting read!
Jurassic Park was a good read.

I shall add Elif Shafak to my list of authors to read. I’ve seen this author around but I have not tried anything by this author yet.
I really think you’ll enjoy her writing, Deb. She’s a truly phenomenal voice.
I almost put The Stand and Jurassic Park on my list. So many good books to choose from. I’ll be checking into the ones on your list that I’m not familiar with.

Great list! I thought about including The Stand, it’s my favorite by King. And I’ve loved the two books I’ve read by Elif Shafak and need to read more. Katherine Arden and Emily St. John Mandel are also favorites.

I read The Hunger Games for the first time last year and LOVED the series!
I’ve seen Elif Shafak come up a couple times for this topic, so I’ll have to check out more of her books! So far, I’ve only read 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World. Very strange, as promised in the title, but so well written!

Apart from The Hunger Games – which is obvious – I only read The Bear and the Nightingale from your list. However, I also read another book by Elif Shafak, and have several others on my TBR as well.
