Hi, Hey, Hello!
Thank you for joining me this weekend! I’m so happy to share a spot of time with you! How the heck are you?!
What can I get started for you? I’m brewing up some black tea with milk and honey (of course) but also have coffee or any herbal tea your heart could desire!
The sun is warm and the breeze is gentle today, so let’s have a seat on the front porch while we catch up.
Spring Greens
The Spring weather continues to give us whiplash with it’s lovely skies and warm-enough-to-pay-Uno outside temps followed by surprise rain storms and wicked winds. The critters are all happy enough for the sunshine on their backs and we humans are taking it all day by day while watching the ten-day forecast to determine when to put the garden and larger crops in.

In between finishing up the school (learning) semester with my daughter, attending all the friends performances, tending the budding farm, and trying to keep up with the dishes and laundry (is one ever truly “caught up” with dishes and laundry?), I’ve finished the first book in the Small Spaces quartet I mentioned in my April Turning Pages post and have added a few blocks to my corner to corner crochet WIP.

Time Machine
My amazing wife surprised me with the newest Tori Amos vinyl this week! Tori and her Little Earthquakes album were absolutely foundational to my teenage self and I’ve followed her career ever since.
When I pulled out the inserts and saw all the lyrics , I had a flashback to my teenage bedroom where I used to sit on the floor with the newest cassette and listen to every song while reading every lyric. It was such an important part of the experience for me and while I won’t be sitting on the floor of the bedroom with these lyrics, I will be doing something similar, probably from the comfort of my blue chair, as soon as I have a spot of quiet time to myself.
I was trying to explain to my 12-year-old how profound this simple vinyl is/why I’m so excited, and her clapback was to ask, quite sassily, if Tori has more Spotify streams than Tate McRae.
Errrrr…
Perspective is such an interesting thing, isn’t it?

How are things in your neck of the woods these days? Are you steadily making your way through your To-Do list(s)? Carving out time for joy and quiet moments? Finding a steady balance between the two?
That’s All Folx
Thanks for sharing a cuppa with me! I’m off to town again today to check out a fundraiser garage sale and do some property clean up on my daughter’s summer camp property.
I hope your weekend is full of joy and happiness!
Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate, knowing it can be a lovely day or a hard day (or a mix of both) for many. All the love and big hugs to you 🙂
As always, thanks to Natalie for continuing to host us for the #weekendcoffeeshare. She’s asking us to link up in the comments now after some struggles with the linky platform, so please read, scroll, and pop around and see what others have been up to!
Wishing you a lovely slide through the weekend and into next week!
Onward,
Melissa

Nice crochet!
Thank you! I love the ease of this project!
Wonderful pictures! Especially of the crochet, your daughter and the dog, and the tuxedo cat.
Funny how music of our youth sends us back in time. Joni Mitchell is to me what Tori Amos is to you.
Thank you, Laurie! I have such good memories of listening to Joni Mitchell with my mom 🙂 I adore how music transcends time! Hope you’re enjoying a lovely weekend!
What a lovely surprise from your wife.
I agree the critters are loving the weather. On two walks this week, my husband and I saved baby turtles trying to cross the road, and then we saw groups of slightly larger painted turtles sunning on a rock. It’s been an interesting week for critters. There was also a baby bunny at my back door (so cute), and a toad that we had to keep the dogs from playing with, and a snake . . . Loving this weather.
Happy Mother’s Day, Melissa. I hope you have a lovely Sunday.
Your posts always manage to make me smile 🙂 I think we would have been great friends if we lived in the same town. Your crocheting project is beautiful. I can relate to how you used to listen to music as a tweenie, I was exactly the same.
I’m so happy to make you smile and completely agree that we’d be great IRL friends if we lived near each other, Maria. Isn’t it lovely how the internet can close even the widest gaps? Hope your weekend ahead is lovely!
Yes! Have a great rest of your weekend!
I declared this past week a catch-up week. Of course, I didn’t catch up on everything I hoped, but I made progress. I’m declaring this week to be birthday retreat week. I suppose that’s a form of balance.
Happy Birthday!!! I hope your Birthday Retreat Week was everything you wanted and needed it to be, Joy!
The crocheting project is gorgeous. I’m always looking for good project ideas. Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you, Regina! I love how low-pressure it is 🙂
Thanks for the catch-up and sharing your beautiful crochet work! Looks gorgeous. Very cool you have the Tori vinyl. I listened to the first half of the album on my walk this morning. It’s phenomenal. Very dark with some pockets of lightness in the first half. Hope you enjoy your listening, too!
Oh, I’m so glad to learn that you’re a Tori listener as well! She’s always lived on the threshold between light and dark and this album does not disappoint! Happy to have her Dragon Self fighting on the right side of history!
The crochet is coming along beautiful. What a thoughtful gift.
Beautiful spring greens and crochet project, Melissa. I’m late commenting as I was travelling and had internet issues. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
I’m always happy to have you pop by, Natalie 🙂 Thanks for the kind words!
