Apparently, according to all the cool people, lace is all the rage these days!
Did you know?
All I know is that I’ve never crocheted lace before and so am giving it a go as part of the Stitchwell Social Club’s make along challenge this month.
I also know that I’ve never learned how to read patterns and have never worked with such fine yarn until now.
Alas, I am trying to stretch myself in ways I haven’t been stretched before and learning the language of crochet in one of those stretches ๐

I’m only a few rows deep and think I’m starting to get the hang of it but am so deeply grateful that the pattern I’m using also includes a chart! Trust me, I’m flipping back and forth between the two like a fiend.
The yarn I’m using is 75% Merino Wool/25% Nylon from Cascade Yarns and was picked out by three of my favorite 12 year olds when we went for a short walk to my favorite little yarn store, Hacer, last week
I was told the green would make my eyes pop, so here we are ๐ I think it’s the perfect almost-spring color.
The pattern I’m following is by Vickie Howell and can be found here.

This lace challenge is only 10 days long, so I just might have a finished product to share with you quite quickly! Wish me luck!
What are you working on creatively these days? Please share in the comments!
Onward,
Melissa

Looks amazing! I need to get out that cross-stitch again…
Ooohhhh YES! I so hope you do!
Nice work! I could never read patterns either.. Tonight I made a turquoise and agate necklace for an upcoming event.
Oh wow! Turquoise and agate sound like such a wonderful combo! I have no doubt it will WOW fellow attendees at the event!
How fun! Best of luck!
Thank you, Maria!
What beautiful work you are doing! I remember my Swedish Great-grandmother making lace tablecloths. I sure wish I had one of those now!
Thank you so much! Hindsight can be a tricky and cruel thing, can’t it? There are a few things I wish I’d snagged when my Grandma passed that I just didn’t have the perspective for when I was 20 :-/
Beautiful work.
