The liminal space of changing seasons is always a special time and the shift into autumn is my absolute favorite. Autumn marks a tangible shift from being out in the world and doing to an internal focus and just being, which is perfect for this introvert 🙂
When I picked up my phone this morning, this was on my home screen. Having shifted the Pinterest widgets to my autumn boards over the last couple of days, this view was a wonderful start to the day and the season.

The co-star message for the day echoed the Autumn energy and offered up a little chuckle to get me going.

Unfortunately, Autumn has also brought COVID into the house. My wife travelled for work last week and that stinker decided to come back to New Mexico with her. She fell with it first and had a very rough weekend, I tested positive today. I’m hoping for a quick recovery for us both (and that our daughter continues to avoid it!) and am going to take the extra resting time to allow myself to read, nap, and daydream about the golden days that will carry us through Spooky Season and into Winter.
Stay healthy and hydrated out there. I’ll see you on the other side.
Onward,
Melissa

So sorry Covid has reared its ugly head. Hope you all feel better soon! I will be getting my Covid vaccine the first Saturday in October.
Thank you, Laurie! I sure hope you got your vaccine, it never is a fun virus to contend with!
Yup, got the vaccine two days after I had my teeth extracted. My gums hurt so much that the effects of the vaccine seemed piddling. 😉
Goodness, I do hope you’re fully on the other side of it all!
Feeling much better, but at the end of the month, three more teeth will be pulled. Then, I hope, it’s over for a while.
Goodness! Sending you all the smooth extraction and quick healing vibes!
We all just cycled through the most recent ick in our neck of the woods as well. Hope everyone recovers quickly in your household, and sounds good that you are soaking in that rest and drinking tea and whatever other favorite hydration beverages you like.
I love this season change, too, and always celebrate with a good house cleaning and fall decorating, tidying up our outdoor space, planning lots of fall cooking, and finding some spooky books and podcasts to keep me company.
Just read The Unworthy by Agustina Bazterrica and oh my gosh, what a terrifying read. Hope you can enjoy your downtime, without too much discomfort.
Thank you, Jessica! We’ve healed up rather well, though the fatigue is lingering :-\
The Unworthy sounds wild! I will look it up! The problem with Spooky Season is that I want to read all.the.spooky/scary.books and there’s only so many hours in the day!
So sorry to hear Covid has entered your home. Hope Autumn feels better soon.
Thank you, Hena! Looking forward to smoother days ahead!
That’s a bummer re COVID. We ahve just booked in for our yearly jab as we travel to France mid october… then to the UK.
I hope you both make a swift recovery
Thank you! I hope you get vaxxed and your travels are smooth! Glad to be up and moving again! Hope you have a great weekend!
So sorry to hear that! Wishing you both speedy recovery so you can enjoy the seasons.
Take care,
-Soma
