Over a Cuppa: Three (Pisces Babies)

Posted on March 8, 2025March 8, 2025 by Melissa

Hi, Hey, Hello!

So glad to have you pop over despite the snow fall! I’ve got the kettle on, the wood stove is crackling warmth throughout the house, and the bird watching from the Living Room windows is quite fun, especially alongside the kitties.

Have a seat and make yourself at home while we share some space and time together.

Would you like coffee or tea today? I have all the options your heart might desire.

Now, how the heck are you? Was your week a good one? I sure hope so.

I have to admit, my week was a bit wobbly. Not horrible, just wobbly due to a combination of a chronic pain flare up coupled with a dip of depression. I find myself in deep gratitude for my support system during such periods. From my friends and family, to the professionals that help keep my mind, body, and spirit in alignment, I am truly so very lucky. Where there’s a plan and the will, there is a way.

Life is good, even when it’s hard, and I’m on the upswing from the wobbles so onward we go 🙂

Pisces Babies

The best parts of the last week have been the celebrations of two of my three favorite Pisces babies: My daughter, Caitlyn, born on March 1st thirty years ago (!!!), and my brother, Haven, born today (March 8th) thirty-seven years ago!

Just a few of my favorite photos of Caitlyn and Haven over the years. Can you spot 11 year-old me?

Yes, yes… I know I’m 48 but… Where the heck does the time go?!

Alas, we celebrated Caitlyn last weekend with a Tea Party themed potluck at her house (tiny sandwiches, cheese and crackers, a fruit platter, tiny desserts, and all the tea). Missing from the above group photo are my dad and his wife who most often skip out of picture taking unless I insist.

My brother and I celebrated his big day yesterday with our traditional Birthday lunch at the place of his choosing, Vinaigrette, his favorite salad spot. No photos of the food but my Apple Cheddar Chop salad with grilled pork was divine, trust me.

Reportable occurrences outside of the celebrations?

I’ve begun the transfer of my family history blog from Squarespace here to WP and wrote about it here. I’m a little nervous because this is my first DIY transfer and I’m not sure how commenting will work from me across three WP blogs. EEK! I’d love to hear your thoughts/insights/experiences if you’re up for sharing them. TIA!

The weather this week has flipped between late spring-like temperatures, an unprecedented high wind warning that brought about pre-emptive closings of schools and government buildings due to probable power outages, and now snow. Hopefully the cold will knock back some of the way-too-early Spring activity.

My wife is traveling for the weekend to a colleague’s wedding so my youngest and I will be enjoying the calmest of calm Saturdays (outside of the necessary farm animal care-taking) with copious amounts of tea, video games, and blog reading.

That’s about it for me today. How’s you’re week been? I’d love to hear all about it 🙂

I’ll leave you with a photo taken outside of the restaurant we ate it yesterday. The photo does not quite capture the vibrancy of this street art, but I hope you’ll enjoy it as I did.

Big thanks to Natalie for hosting our time together. If you haven’t already, please pop on over to see what everyone is up to. It’s really a lovely community.

Onward,

Melissa

A very happy birthday to the Pisces! Sounds as though the celebrations were grand. Would love to join you for a cup of tea. If only we lived closer to each other.

I’ll happily share virtual coffee with you any time. It’s not a substitute for in-person magic, but it’s a pretty amazing corner of the internet 🙂

Hi Melissa, happy birthday to your brother, I saw your comment on my post and he shares his birthday with my sister. She was turning a bit older than 37 though 🙂
All the best for the week ahead, it’s good to admit when some are wobbly, they can help us find the good parts. Enjoy the spring weather on the way, we’re still having lovely warm days but autumn is on the way for us.

Hi…Please can I have my coffee black… and if you have any homemade cookies I’d say yes please if they were on offer. Wobbles happen. I get it and good we have friends and family to pull us through. Some close while others from afar.

The art is beautiful. Street art is becoming quite the thing now.

Thanks for popping over! No homemade cookies today but we have an abundance of Girl Scout cookies still hanging about! What’s your favorite? We have all the options available right now 🙂

Thank you for your kind words. So thankful for the balance of it all.

We have a couple of March birthdays, too. It’s time to figure out some celebratory little thing. Lunch out, probably.

Yay for March babies! Lunch out is always a good answer for us, unless someone wants to host a get-together 🙂 Sometimes we do both! Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful March full of joyful celebrations.

We had some high winds over the weekend too and I was so thankful that while our power blinked a bit on Friday it did manage to stay on! I hope both your daughter and your brother had a very happy birthday celebration.
