Hello & Welcome!
I am so glad you could join me for a cuppa today! I’m excited to catch up, hear (read) how you’ve been and invite you into my new space!
It’s a little blustery out today with a cold front moving in, but the sun is warm, the porch will shield us from the winds, and the view of the mesa is quite lovely today.

You may or not remember that I’ve participated in the Coffee Shares for a number of years on two different blogs:
My farm blog, Ever Growing Farm, participated beginning in 2015 with Part Time Monster and jumped in semi-regularly until 2022. We’re still tending the land and livestock and I still write there a couple of times a month.
In 2023 I began my family history blog, Bold + Queer, and participated there a handful of times until mid-2024. I still write there as well as research and documentation inspire and allow.
I’m also currently working on a piece about a great aunt for an upcoming anthology I’ve been accepted into, so much of my free time is devoted to that project currently.
And that brings us here! This new space, Under the Elderberry Tree, is the third space I’ve gifted myself. A no-niche, old school blog! A space where I can write as freely as my heart desires and as widely as inspiration drives.
I am still finding my voice here and am very excited to jump back into this lovely weekend community hosted by Natalie where we share our highlights over a cuppa.
I hope you’ll bare with me as I find my true blogging legs again. I’ve promised myself that in 2025 I will write something every single day.
Some days that will be in my physical journal…
Some days that might be a single sentence or notes or lists…
And somedays that will be here in this space.
Some of my most recent posts here you might find interesting and that give a glimpse into who and where I am right now in life include:
- On the Banks of our Hearts
- Removing Pennies from Dirty Pockets
- Chatting Nostalgia on The Rewind podcast (yep, I was on a podcast last month!)
- My About page also gives a nifty little glimpse into who I am in current time, if you are extra curious 😉
Feel free to poke around. It’s still a bit dusty from construction, but I’m happy with the bones of my new space and excited to make in my own.
Thank you for being here and for being a part of this wonderful community. I look forward to sharing time and space together.
xoxo,
Melissa

I remember your farm and family history blogs. I’m glad you decided to link up with Weekend Coffee Share again. It’s impressive that you maintain three blogs. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for popping over and continuing to host us all! Pulling back from social media adds more time to my days so I’m hoping I can maintain some consistency across the three! Happy Weekend!
I love seeing a new blog. Good luck. You’re off to a great start #weekendcoffeeshare
Thank you, Jennifer! I’m so happy to be here!
I’m glad you decided to bring this blog over to the coffee share 🙂 These days about 75% of my blogging time is on the coffee share, but perhaps I will start doing short stories and such again.
Is this your only Word Press blog? I follow all three, but this is the only one I ever see show up in my “Reader” and, besides link ups, that is the only way I read blog posts.
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your weekend and that you have a wonderful week ahead!
Hi Trent! I know you have so many wonderful ways you fill your days, but I would personally love to see some short stories and such again 🙂
This and my farm blog are on Word Press. The family history blog is on Square Space. I wanted to try something different but I don’t like the lack of comment integration. I’m toying with the idea of moving it to Word Press when my current hosting expires. We live and learn, ya know.
Thanks for popping over! Have a great weekend!
It’s so difficult, in my opinion to manage more than one blog. I used to do it, and I ignored my current one for a word press.org site. It wasn’t nearly as interactive, but had more views, I think. I prefer the interactions, so I closed it. Thanks for visiting me.
After trying WordPress and Square Space, I’d agree that the interactions are more important than the views. I’m enjoying my deep dive back into the blogging world and am so happy to engaging with others who enjoy writing and reading blogs. It’s a very cool community. Thank you for popping over!
You’re welcome. Enjoy the ride. 🙂
Congratulations on having your piece accepted in the anthology. I like the name of your new blog. Great to see you back, Melissa. Happy Saturday.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind words <3 I'm so happy to be back and sharing the blog world with you!
Hi Melissa, I like the term ‘blogging legs’
Are you serving cake with the cuppa?
I have subscribed to your blog.
Hi! Thank you so much for popping over and subscribing. I will happily serve cake with your cuppa, how could I not 😉
Sorry for the glitch in the Comment Matrix, looks like it all turned out alright in the end! Off to acquaint myself with your space. Hope your week ahead is lovely!
Hi Melissa, I often have problems when I try and access blogs via linz. I don’t know why. The times I’ve written a lenghty reply and I see the message This post is no longer open to comments. And as for BLogger blogs … they are a non starter for me.. Anyways, I’m glad we resolved it and thanks for stopping by 🙂
Hi, I left a comment and then it disappeared telling me it was a duplicate LoL
I love your mug photo. I also love the idea of writing something every day in some capacity!
Hi Kirstin! I’m a big fan of mugs so I’m glad you like the capture 🙂 The writing challenge has been such a good practice for me while standing as a reminder that the tiniest habit shifts really do add up over time! Thank you for being here, hope your week is a lovely one!
I remember “Bold and Queer” — welcome back to the blogsphere!
Oh Yay! I’m so glad! And I’m so happy to be here in this new space with so many familiar faces 🙂
