Oh September…
You came in with gentle breezes and all the hope for a smooth transition into the next season…
You welcomed us with the most glorious Wedding Anniversary dinner and the promise of a long, mellow weekend…
But then you hit us (my wife, specifically) with a yellow jacket attack when she accidentally hit a ground nest while prepping for a propane delivery, leaving her with:
- 13 stings
- immense pain
- lost days
- all the itches
- exhaustion
And leaving me a worried mess.
You then gifted us twice our average monthly rain fall, leaving the land, the produce, and our bodies utterly confused.
Yes, it feels strange to complain about rain in the high desert, but goodness!
And then, to round it all out, you decided to help us close out the month with Covid.
Thank goodness it just hit my wife and I, leaving our daughter healthy as can be, but we both could’ve skipped this round, thankyouverymuch!
To be clear, you did fill all the spaces between with:
- goat and old kitty cuddles
- lots of beans
- blue skies
- fun at the Renaissance Faire
- reading, resting and resetting
- visiting a favorite and newly moved yarn shop
- watching our first 4DX movie as a family (eek!)
- embroidery completion and a new kit
- herb harvests for future teas
- the tiniest feathers
- Jurassic Park with the score played live by the NM Symphony Orchestra
- and so many other glorious moments

So, Dear September, thanks for the dance, but I could have done without the whiplash.
Let’s take it a little easier on the next go-round, shall we?
Onward,
Melissa

Goodness, Melissa. What a month! I hope your good ladywife has fully recovered. Rain glorious rain is not always as glorius as we imagine. And COVID the gift that keeps giving. Thankfully it sounds like you had some highlights inbetween.
Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts. I’m so glad to be on the other side of it all and to have some good memories to carry forward in spite of it all! I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful weekend!
Yikes, what a month! Glad you were able to squeeze in some simple pleasures.
No doubt. So glad to be on the other side!
