Hi, Hey, Hello!
So glad to have you over on this gorgeous Spring day! I’ve got the kettle on for a warm beverage and some Girl Scout cookies on the table. Your choices are Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, or Gluten Free Caramel Chocolate Chip.
Have a seat and make yourself at home while we share some space and time together.
Would you like coffee or tea today? I have all the options your heart might desire.
Today’s visit will have to be quick as we have a full day in Santa Fe planned while my wife participates in our local Ditch Day (the annual community acequia cleaning). While she does that, our daughter and I will race through the following:
- There are errands to run, including the feed store, Michael’s, and a grocery pick up
- My daughter is selling cookies at a Troop Booth for her final sales push (tomorrow is the last day to buy Girl Scout Cookies)
- And I have a Baby Shower to attend!
Unfortunately, I was not able to finish the baby blanket I started for the Wee One we are showering today due to a yarn shortage and lot number challenges. Silly me, and the reason for another stop at Michael’s in the hopes it can all be finished up in the coming week and I can surprise Mama with it before the baby arrives.
What’s on the agenda for your weekend?

In other news, I have a few other coals in the fire:
- I signed up for the A to Z 2025 Challenge on my genealogy blog
- I am this close to finishing up this waves edits for my anthology piece about my great aunt Eva
- A podcast I recorded in December about my NPE experience is going live on Tuesday (eek!)
- I’m juggling chicks and spring cores and my sanity as I try my best to not fall into the abyss of TEOTWAWKI
And, the most exciting bit beyond all of the above is that my Surprise Sister and her family arrive in six days and I am just beside myself with joy about it! We’ve only met once before but are in contact often and have been steadily building a relationship since 2020!
GAH! 🙂
I’m sure to share more on all of these coals in the coming weeks, but for now, it’s time to head out.
I’d love to hear about your plans and coals and hope that your weekend and the weekend ahead are simply divine!
Big thanks to Natalie for hosting our time together. If you haven’t already, please pop on over to see what everyone is up to. It’s really a lovely community.
Onward,
Melissa

I hope the Mama doesn’t read your blog or there will be no surprise 😉
If I remember correctly, your wife is an artist. Is that right? I was just thinking that because you said “another stop at Michael’s” and was wondering if that is where she gets some of her smaller arts supplies.
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your busy weekend and have a wonderful week ahead as you wait for your “Surprise Sister” to arrive!
Hi Trent! No worries, she doesn’t read my blog.
Good memory on the art…though I’m the artsy one and Kim is the builder 🙂 I prefer Michael’s to Hobby Lobby so I’m sure you’ve seen me talk about it over the years.
Hope your weekend has been a good one!
Ah, OK, it was a few years back and I had forgotten who was the artist and who the builder. Yes, I refuse to go to Hobby Lobby, so with the local owned art supply store now gone, Michael’s is usually it.
Tea and cookies sound nice. It’s funny how when we hear a baby is due us crocheters get to work lol. I crocheted 2 baby blankets a few months back for a friend of the family who was expecting. Happy crocheting!
Enjoy your week and time with the family.
Yay for crochet! I do love how our minds go straight to “must make something for the baby” <3 I truly believe every new baby deserves a handmade gift. I hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend and have a great week ahead!
Sounds like you have a full weekend and week ahead. I hope your daughter had a good sale of the GG cookies and you had fun at the baby shower, as well as more fun once your Surprise Sister arrives. I went for a walk yesterday and was delighted to see crocus, snowdrops and hellebore in bloom. Today I hope to go for a bike ride and visit all the Weekend Coffee Share blogs. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
Thank you, Natalie! Full indeed, in all the best ways!
All the blooms on your walk sound absolutely lovely! I’m itching for the colors to being popping up around here but we’ve got a little more time before that will happen in abundance.
I hope your bike ride was lovely and the week ahead is a great one! Thanks for popping over!
Good thing you have cookies and hot beverages to help you get through such busy times. Good luck getting the baby blanket finished. It’s a beauty.
Never underestimate a little caffeine and sugar to keep us going! A solid project doesn’t hurt either 😉 Hope you’re doing wonderfully!
Oh bummer about the blanket! What you’ve done so far looks beautiful and I’m sure the mom will appreciate it no matter when it gets to her. Sounds like a busy day ahead. I hope you enjoy some down time when all is accomplished! Have a wonderful week, Melissa!
Thank you Rachel! I’ve had to order the yarn online after all so I remain hopeful the colors will match (no dye lot number available online). I was able to squeeze in some rest and hope you did too! Have a wonderful week ahead!
Hi Melissa, happy weekend coffeeshare. Please , i’ll have coffee no sugar and Gluten Free Caramel Chocolate Chip – one of my favourites! How lovely your surpise sister and family arrive shortly. I would be beside myself with excitement.
Hi! Thank you so much for popping over and sharing a cuppa with me! I’m greatly looking forward to family time and am sure I’ll have some lovely stories to tell <3 Hope your week is unfolding wonderfully!
Great catch up. for some reason when I read the word warm, I thought is said bread and not beverage….haha!
That is a lot! Excited to hear about a visit from your surprise sister.. it’ll be great.
