A few nights ago I had a dream about pieces of blue construction paper floating down from the sky.
I watched them slowly drift down from a grey sky through the slightest breeze and land in a small pile on the soil at my feet.
As is sometimes the pure magic of the dreamscape, none of this was shocking to me at all. So, naturally, I began picking them up and placing them together before me in a simple mosaic.
That’s it. That’s the dream.
At least, what I remember of it.
Now, I have no idea what a dream expert might have to say about this at all but I awoke knowing the answer for myself so it doesn’t really matter.
See, I woke up knowing that, as unconventional as my life has been in so many ways, I am:
- Exactly where I am meant to be
- Ready for all of the pieces to fall into place
- Excited to further explore my creativity in simple and complex ways
- Inspired to continue building community by sharing sublime and wild experiences
- Willing to take each moment as it comes without fear or expectation
So I added a blue construction paper mosaic to my journal as a little mind mapping and brainstorming exercise and let it all simmer for a bit.
And now here I am, present and accounted for, ready to dive into new opportunities and open to whatever awaits me around the bend.
Yes, yes, I am deeply worried about the state of (and future of) the USA and the world at large, but I am also looking for the helpers and willing to be one myself in any way possible. Right now that means educating myself and holding onto hope. It also means building up my strength for whatever lies ahead so that I may help piece it all back together again in any and every way possible once all the pieces fall where they might.
How’s your dream space been recently? Any interesting images or insights you’ve pulled into your waking hours?

My dreams lately have been filled in a pleasant way with odds and ends of people from my early adulthood. We’re all friendly and relaxed, a sharp contrast to how it is now. I agree that currently “educating myself and holding onto hope” is paramount. I, too, wonder where this country is going but refuse to give up on it.
Thank you for sharing your recent dreams with me! I, too, have seen many old friends (who I haven’t seen in decades) in my dreams recently. Our subconscious is such an interesting beast.
I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in not giving up on our country. There is so much good to hold on to and work towards, one step at a time.
